Soma (Carisoprodol) used for the treatment of muscle pain and discomfort. It is usually used with rest, physiotherapy and other types of treatment. It works by helping to relax the muscles.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Take this medication orally with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually 4 times a day. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. This medication should be used for the short term (3 weeks or less) unless directed by your doctor. Do not increase your dose or use this medication more often or for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve faster, and your risk of side effects will increase. This medication may cause withdrawal reactions, especially if used regularly for a long time or at high doses. In such cases, sudden withdrawal symptoms (such as cramps in the stomach, insomnia, headaches, nausea) may occur if you stop using this medication suddenly. To prevent withdrawal reactions, your doctor may gradually reduce the dose. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details and immediately report any response to a review. Despite its benefits, this drug rarely leads to abnormal behavior in relation to drug use (addiction). This risk may be increased if you have ever used alcohol or drugs in the past. Take this medicine as prescribed to reduce the risk of addiction. Tell your doctor if your condition persists after 2-3 weeks or worsens.
Soma Precaution
Serious side effects have been reported with Soma including:
- Drug dependence, withdrawal, and abuse: Soma should be taken for a maximum of 3 weeks and should not be taken with alcohol or CNS depressants such as benzodiazepines, opioids, or tricyclic antidepressants.
- Seizures: Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures. Only take the prescribed amount of Soma.

Hypersensitivity (allergic) reaction: An allergic reaction to Soma can occur. Call your doctor if you experience one or more of the following:
- difficulty breathing or swallowing
- hoarseness
- rash or hives
Do not take Soma if you:
- are allergic to Soma or meprobamate
- have a history of acute intermittent porphyria (a disease affecting red blood cells)
Soma can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how Soma affects you. Alcohol may intensify this side effect.
